10 Ways Social Media Can Negatively Affect Your Mental Health

7) FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out?

We may know that some of the content we’re seeing on social media isn’t necessarily real, but it can be hard to resist scrolling through them anyway. We might think about how much more fun everyone else seems to be having. Of course, this feeling is called FOMO (fear of missing out) and it’s an important part of our lives.

8) Overstimulation

Paying attention to multiple things at the same time has been shown to increase brain activation. If an individual is exposed to many different stimulants, their brain doesn’t have time to recover from any one of them and becomes more vulnerable to overstimulation.
